Who is the #1 prospect for the Brewers? [Escobar]

Postby UWbrewball on Jan 23rd, 2010, 12:30 pm

You may choose up to 2 options for those still undecided, or you can do a write-in vote. Discuss.

Escobar. Can't see much of a debate for anybody besides Escobar, Lawrie, or Gamel.

I think so too, but you could easily put up an argument. Are you judging prospects based on ceiling, likelihood to reach said ceiling, or consistency as a major leaguer?

How is "prospect" defined?

For me Escobar isn't a prospect anymore since he's MLB ready for the most part and has a starting spot. But thats me, so whats the official meaning?

I think BF.net used 130 ABs and 50 IP at the big league level as the cutoff.

Escobar counts as a rookie too.

OK. Well Im going to be crazy and continue to think he's not a prospect(Mostly because he has a starting spot waiting).

If I could change my vote, Id switch mine from Escobar to Lawrie.

Dont ask me why I voted for Escobar at first thinking like this haha

I'll leave this open until the Vikings game since it's pretty apparent who you all think is the to prospect.

ABs taking place in September don't hurt prospect status I believe.

I think at bats in September count against your rookie status, but the time on the September roster doesn't count towards the 45 day on an MLB roster limit.

Although for Escobar, that wouldn't matter as he's at 129 AB's, with the rookie cutoff 130. Gamel however it would impact since he is right at 130.
